Stonestown and Eastridge Mall “Same Day” Fulfillment Centers
Amazon.com has inexorably changed the face of retailing, and traditional brick-and-mortar retailers have been forced to quickly adapt or die. In response to Amazon’s increasingly quick delivery service, long-time client General Growth Properties, Inc. retained us to design experimental “Fulfillment Centers” at two of their flagship malls, in San Jose and San Francisco.
The fulfillment centers are designed to facilitate on-line ordering with in-store pickup, same-day delivery, and app-based shopping within the mall with carry out service to one’s car (via dedicated loading areas).
These projects were designed on a very tight timeframe and built in time for the 2013 Christmas shopping season.
