PALO ALTO TRADITIONAL II

A bright, welcoming home with a mixture of traditional elements and modern touches

Palo Alto Traditional II

After seeing our work on Houzz.com and in the area, Filip and Charlotte came to us with only a few non-negotiable design criteria:
  1. “Max out” their 6,040 s.f. level lot in Palo Alto’s Green Gables neighborhood
  2. No boxy/modern designs
  3. Provide the biggest possible swimming pool for Filip, a former compettiive swimmer

We incorporated their requests in the form of a two story house with varied rooflines, a mix of traditional elements such as shutters and square porch column, and a few modern touches such as a dark gray standing seam metal roof and matching metal-clad wood windows. Cement fiber lap and board/batten siding painted white give the house a bright and welcoming feel.

The new great room spreads the width of the buildable area at the rear and is matched by the pool, which is of nearly equal size and whose edge comes right up to the rear covered patio.

This design was quickly approved through the City of Palo Alto’s Individual Review process.
