PALO ALTO CRAFTSMAN V

A traditional Craftsman style home with generous front and rear porches

The lot for this home is in a flood zone, so we recommended to our clients to put the house on a slab instead of a crawl space foundation.

In an effort to be sensitive to the single-story neighbor to our left, we reduced the mass of the 2nd story on the left side and tucked the left front bedroom into the attic and expressed its windows with front and side-facing dormers.

Large front and rear porches visually expand the house without counting against floor area, and provide indoor-outdoor spaces that our clients fully anticipate using once the house is built.

Our progressive clients opted for a fully-featured rainwater capture + graywater recycling system, complete with 10,000 gallon underground cistern buried in the backyard.
