Menlo Park Modern Farmhouse II
In recent years, the “modern farmhouse” style has risen to immense popularity in the Bay Area for custom new homes and major remodels. Our clients cite the style’s contemporary leanings yet familiar rooflines and massing, ties to the agricultural heritage of Santa Clara Valley, and “agro-chic” influence of wineries and restaurants in nearby Napa Valley as reasons for selecting “modern farmhouse” for their custom home design.
Heidi and Sean were open to other styles of house for their new home in unincorporated Menlo Park (San Mateo County), but after we showed them some alternate approaches, they came right back to modern farmhouse.
Working with our clients’ desire to have a loft-like great room with 15’+ high ceilings, we developed a plan that features a downstairs master suite and 3 bedrooms up, which wrap snugly around the high-ceilinged great room below.
Material pallette is clad wood windows, comp roof shingles, cement fiber board and batten. Construction start is anticipated in summer 2016.
