Menlo Oaks Craftsman
One of the things we most enjoy about residential architecture is the chance to meet and work closely with so many amazing and talented clients on a very personal level. The design process of this beautiful Craftsman home with Scott and Jessica went very smoothly, but it was the construction process that really made this project stand out.
Taking a 12 month sabbatical from his demanding job as a mechanical engineer, Scott acted as his own general contractor, overseeing all aspects of construction and performing much of labor himself. His prior experience consisting exclusively of a family home remodel led by his contractor father when he was a youth, Scott was nevertheless able to build faithfully to our highly detailed plans with a modicum of complications.
The magnificent edifice standing today is a living testimony to not only Scott’s talent and determination, but his love for his beautiful family. We were honored to be part of the effort!
Scott and Jess subsequently retained us to design a detached guesthouse to complement the main house.
